The Istituto Tecnico Industriale S. Cannizzaro in Catania participated in the second mobility project in Gozo (Malta). The school’s Erasmus project team, comprising the Headmistress and three teachers, visited Gozo from October 21 to 25 to participate in LTT (Learning, Teaching, Training) activities related to inclusion.
The teachers gathered at the Sacred Heart Minor School in Gozo. They actively participated in numerous discussions, activities, and workshops on teaching methods and strategies.
The Maltese teachers engaged their European colleagues in a range of activities. These included a socialization and communication activity called “A Beautiful Day,” during which the Maltese Ftira was prepared, and a science lesson called “Journey to the Living World”, in which students with special needs took on different roles on a farm. The workshop titled
“I’m Going to the Hospital” provided essential training in first aid and emergency health services.
Another noteworthy activity was that of Dr. Georgete Bayata, Head of the Education Department of the Catholic schools of Malta, who gave an informative presentation on the Maltese educational system for inclusion.
The program also included guided tours of notable locations in Gozo, such as Victoria with its historic Citadella, a charming old fortified town, and St. George’s Basilica.
Furthermore, the itinerary included visits to UNESCO sites such as the Ggantija Temples and the archaeological museum. The agenda also included a visit to the Blue Lagoon Beach on the island of Comino and a tour of Malta’s La Valletta, which included a visit to the Cathedral and the opportunity to view Caravaggio’s paintings. Headmistress Mrs. Giuseppina Montella and the teachers involved in the Erasmus Project (Mrs. Cinzia Melfa, Mrs. Donatella De Marco, and Mr. Gaetano Chiarenza) definitively highlighted the high educational value of interacting and exchanging different pedagogical approaches among educators from different nations.
